Slew of DOL Nominations Advance to Full Senate Vote

The Senate HELP Committee has approved a number of Department of Labor nominees, addressing a severe shortage of political appointees in key positions at the Department.  The nominees bring strong credentials to their roles: 

  • Kate O'Scannlain, nominated to serve as DOL Solicitor, is a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP where she focuses on the employment and labor law aspects of corporate transactions and private equity, employment law counseling, and employment litigation. 
  • Preston Rutledge, nominated to serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employee Benefits Security Administration, is Senior Tax and Benefits Counsel for the Senate Finance Committee. 
  • Scott Mugno, nominated to serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, is currently Vice President for Safety, Sustainability and Vehicle Maintenance at FedEx Ground. 
  • Dr. William Beach, nominated to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is the Vice President for Policy Research at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.  Dr. Beach previously served as the Chief Economist for the Senate Budget Committee, Republican Staff.
