Senate Confirms Eugene Scalia as Labor Secretary

The Senate voted 53 to 44 to confirm Gibson Dunn partner and former U.S. Solicitor of Labor Eugene Scalia as Secretary of Labor.

HR Policy said in a letter of support:  “Throughout his outstanding career in the public and private sectors, Mr. Scalia has demonstrated the intellect, leadership ability, and critical understanding of the nation’s extensive labor laws and regulations necessary to lead the Department of Labor as it faces the important challenges related to the future of work.”

Mr. Scalia has more than three decades of private law practice experience in addition to his tenure as Solicitor of Labor, where he demonstrated his capacity for leadership and fair-minded approach to a wide variety of perspectives.  While at Gibson Dunn, he worked closely with the Association on several issues.
