President Trump Moves to Fill NLRB, EEOC Slots

March 13, 2020

President Trump nominated one Republican and one Democrat for vacancies at both the National Labor Relations Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

EEOC nominees:

  • On the Republican side, Andrea R. Lucas, an associate at Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher LLP; and
  • On the Democrat side, Jocelyn Samuels, executive director of the UCLA School of Law Institute.

NLRB nominees:

  • Current Republican board member Marvin Kaplan, whose current term ends August 27, 2020; and
  • Former Democratic member Lauren McGarity McFerran, whose previous term expired in December 2019.

Roger King, HR Policy Senior Labor and Employment Counsel, said, “We are extremely pleased that the administration has nominated individuals to fill the vacancies on the NLRB and the EEOC.  It is important that both agencies have a quorum as we move toward the November elections.  We are also hopeful that the White House will re-nominate Keith Sonderling, who currently serves as Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, for the remaining Republican vacancy on the EEOC.”
