Poll Finds Workers’ Mental Health Increasingly Affected by COVID-19-Related Stress

April 17, 2020

A new Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that 45% of Americans state stress related to the coronavirus has had an impact on their mental health.
Most workers affected: 57% of workers report being worried they will put themselves at risk of exposure to coronavirus because they can’t afford to stay home and miss work—an increase from 35% in March.  The poll also found continued growth in feelings of disruption, financial worries, and concerns over personal health and the health of loved ones.
The Association’s American Health Policy Institute held a membership-wide call on the impact of coronavirus on mental health and EAP benefits.  Call participants explored how employers can support employees in these unprecedented times and how employers can begin to consider returning employees to the workplace.
