HR Policy Association Announces New Board Chair 

Timothy J. Richmond, Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer, AbbVie to become Chair, Pam Kimmet Hailed for Six-Year Tenure, Leadership Through Pandemic


WASHINGTON, D.C.  The Board of Directors of the HR Policy Associationthe premier organization representing the chief human resource officers of nearly 400 of the largest private sector employers globally, today announces Timothy J. Richmond, executive vice president, chief human resources officerAbbVie will become chair of the board of directors effective at the Association’s meeting on September 10, 2024He will succeed Pamela O. Kimmet, chief human resources officer of Manulife, who has served as board chair for the past six years. Ms. Kimmet will remain on the board’s executive committee.

Mr. Richmond is executive vice president, chief human resources officer for AbbViea role he’s held since the company was founded in 2013. AbbVie is a global, research-driven biopharmaceutical company of approximately 50,000 employees that is consistently ranked as a premier employer on top workplace and diversity lists. Prior to AbbVie, Mr. Richmond served as divisional vice president, compensation and benefits at Abbott and held various human resources management positions at 3M Company. In addition to his board work with HR PolicyMr. Richmond also serves on the Advisory Board for HR Policy’s Center on Executive Compensation, as the chairman of the Advisory Board for the University of South Carolina’s Center for Executive Succession and has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR)He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations from Michigan State University. 

Ms. Kimmet has served as Manulife’s chief human resources officer since October 2018 and was a member of its board of directors between March 2016 and September 2018. Before Manulife, she led the HR organizations for Cardinal Health, Coca Cola Enterprises, Bear Stearns and Lucent Technologies. Earlier in her career she held a range of human resources roles at General Motors and Citigroup. She currently serves on the board of directors for Privia Health. In addition to her work with the HR Policy Association, Ms. Kimmet serves on the boards for Cornell University’s Center for Advanced HR Studiesthe University of South Carolina’s Center for Executive Succession, and the NAHR FoundationShe was named an NAHR Fellow in 2009 and has a bachelors degree from Cornell’s School of Industrial & Labor Relations and an MBA from Michigan State University.
