Tanya Lewis-Walls, DrPH is the Senior Vice President of the Commercial & Payer Channels within Optum Behavioral Health Solutions, a division of UnitedHealth Group. Tanya is a proven business, product and consumer experience professional who is adept at managing end-to-end financials, development, and management of comprehensive healthcare portfolios. She deploys critical business strategies and techniques such as P&L management, market intelligence, customer and member-centered design thinking, health literacy, and cultural competency, to drive a high-functioning business. Her core values of ‘serving more and serving better’ guide her work and philanthropic activities.

As Senior Vice President of Behavioral Commercial & Payer Channels, Tanya is accountable for driving growth, transformation, and core execution of a $2Billon behavioral solutions portfolio, continuously reviewing the portfolio of offerings with key data and insights to determine how to evolve the portfolio to best serve our customers and members. She also is executive sponsor of the Behavioral Health Equity Council and guides the strategic plans and approaches for driving greater health equity across the organization.

Tanya has served in several strategic healthcare roles in her 18 years at UHG that have grounded her knowledge, skills, and commitment to advancing the health of individuals and communities through stellar management of businesses, programs, services, and support. Her expertise has been leveraged to support various endeavors such as Congressional testimony, authored and contributed to peer-reviewed articles and whitepapers and spoken at numerous healthcare industry events. Outside of her professional pursuits, Tanya is active in her community serving organizations aimed at empowering youth. She enjoys being a mentor, coach, and advocate for emerging leaders both within and outside the organization.

Tanya received her Doctor of Public Health at Drexel University where her thesis addressed culturally competent strategies to improve the health of racial/ethnic populations with diabetes. She also holds a Master’s in Public Health from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science from Franklin & Marshall College.
