Vince Toman
Prior to becoming a Barrister, Vince worked in an industry where he gained first-hand experience in collective employment law as a lay trade union official at BNFL in Cumbria. As a lawyer, Vince has been an adviser to independent trade unions and an employment lawyer for a leading trade union firm of solicitors. He then worked in the Employment Department of a large city practice before joining Lewis Silkin in January 2001.
Vince was the head of the collective employment group at Lewis Silkin until he started working part-time. He has advised on many Information and Consultation Regulation matters, as well as European Works Council issues. He has been involved in several statutory as well as voluntary trade union recognition matters. Vince also has experience in obtaining injunctions against trade unions for breaches of the balloting requirements. He advises businesses on their empoloyment relations strategies, including closure of final salary pension schemes while also providing guidance on mitigating the effects of any potential industrial action.
Vince has a wide range of experience in health and safety issues, including disaster management and advising on COVID 19. He has appeared on television as an expert on collective employment issues.
