EEOC Opens Pay Data Collection Help Desk

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has announced it has a contractor in place to collect EEO-1 pay data beginning mid-July and that it has opened a help desk for employers to call.

The help desk for employers is available at (877) 324-6214 and via email at [email protected].  Employer training material and FAQs will also be available on the EEOC’s website beginning June 30.

Employers can expect initial reporting notifications from the EEOC beginning July 1 via email and the U.S. Postal Service.

Outlook:  The EEOC has hired a third-party contractor to collect the data because it lacks the ability to run it in-house.  It is unclear whether the EEOC will do anything with the data they collect as they’ve previously told the court that it will likely be unreliable.  An appeal of the court-ordered pay data collection is pending but is unlikely to come through in time to impact the July to September data collection window.
